Support To Flourish
Grimsby
🌟 What an inspiring visit to Support to Flourish (Flourish) in Grimsby today! 🌟
I had the pleasure of dropping in to see the fantastic work this local charity is doing at Nunsthorpe Community Centre. The setup is genuinely impressive — a welcoming, well-organised space with a proper kitchen, art areas, learning materials and a real sense of purpose.
Flourish was set up in 2018 by Dave McMahon to support young adults with learning difficulties who aren’t in employment or full-time education.
They run a day service focused on building confidence, independence, life skills and overall wellbeing so people can be the best version of themselves.
Here’s a snapshot of the great things they do:
Life skills training (personal hygiene, personal development and everyday independence)
Cooking, nutrition and healthy eating sessions
Creative arts and crafts (the painting and art sessions I saw were brilliant)
Fitness, wellbeing and confidence-building activities
Community engagement, performances, trips and practical skills work
Fundraising challenges (bike rides, walks etc.) that support other local causes
The atmosphere was fantastic — supportive staff, engaged clients clearly enjoying themselves, and a real sense of teamwork and achievement. You can see the positive impact straight away.
Huge credit to the whole team at Flourish. You’re doing a superb job for the local community in Grimsby and beyond. I'll see you again soon, Keep up the excellent work! 💪
