What is happening in Grimsby
- Corporation Bridge has been shut since February 2023. A main way into the town centre, over the Freshney, with a bill that has roughly doubled and a reopening still talked about for December 2026.
- Freeman Street and the town centre: footfall down about two-thirds in a decade, vacancy above the national average, and the same copy-and-paste frontages — vape shops, mini-marts, barbers.
- Asylum dispersal: North East Lincolnshire, which includes Grimsby, had 282 people on Home Office asylum support at 31 March 2026 (276 in dispersal housing). The Home Office does not publish a Grimsby-only split.
- Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital is the hospital this coast depends on. Waiting lists are not an abstraction if you live here.
- Almost a thousand potholes were reported to the council in 2025.
