- Cleethorpes Market Place: years of argument over pedestrianisation versus parking. Traders warned that stripping the bays would kill custom. The new council has said it will keep the parking — and was then accused of changing the scheme without consultation.
- North Promenade anti-social behaviour: racing, wheel-spins and stereo noise. Residents have said they cannot live a normal life next to it. Cameras arrived late.
- Asylum support: Cleethorpes sits in North East Lincolnshire’s Home Office total — 282 people on asylum support at 31 March 2026. There is no official Cleethorpes-only figure.
- The same high-street pattern as Grimsby: vape shops, mini-marts and barbers, with Trading Standards and police still raiding illicit tobacco and illegal vapes.
